ABOUT THE ARTIST

AL DANIEL MAZZARELLA

            Al grew up in upstate New York, the Rochester and Buffalo area. His early years were much more athletic than aesthetic. His Bachelor studies were at the State University of New York, Buffalo. His Master’s and Doctorate programs were at the Ohio State University. Add to those, a year’s study of Fine Arts & Photography in Siena and Florence, Italy.

Al taught 2-D Fine Arts and Humanities (Art History) for the Columbus Public Schools- Brookhaven and Walnut Ridge. He was director of Education at the Columbus Museum of Art, and he was in the ranks of Professor at Western Michigan University and The Ohio State University. Al owned a Camera Store, and an advertising agency (Mazz Media), and a Fine Arts and Photography Gallery (Photogenesis).

Al has traveled throughout the USA for decades, buying and selling Fine Arts and Photography Equipment and Fine Arts and Photography works of Art. He continues to do so currently!

ABOUT THE ART

Mostly drawing, with some painting, all works are two-dimensional on paper stock. They should be called mixed media drawings (pen & ink, paints, inkjet, markers on archival paper or board oriented stock.) Next year, Al will exhibit his paintings on canvas at the Art Pad Gallery.

AL has two distinctive genres of work;

    • Non-Objective, or the use of elements of design in a spontaneous style. Non theme oriented and straight from the head and soul!
    • Landscape, or a more deliberate use of nature as seen and remembered or recorded from Al’s decades on the roads of America!

And, YES, Yellow is Al’s favorite color.
